Aden – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has warned that renewed conflict and escalating violence across Yemen have forced more than 230,000 people to flee their homes, worsening an already severe humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country.
According to the organization, the latest wave of displacement has placed immense pressure on vulnerable communities and overstretched humanitarian services, with thousands of families seeking safety in areas that already lack basic resources and essential infrastructure.
The IOM noted that many of the newly displaced are living in precarious conditions, facing shortages of food, clean water, healthcare, and shelter. Humanitarian agencies continue to struggle to meet growing needs amid ongoing insecurity and limited access to affected populations.
The agency emphasized that repeated displacement is pushing many Yemeni families deeper into poverty and increasing their dependence on humanitarian assistance.
Children, women, and the elderly remain among the most vulnerable groups affected by the conflict.
The renewed fighting comes as Yemen continues to grapple with one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises after years of conflict, economic decline, and damaged public services.
Aid organizations have repeatedly warned that continued hostilities risk further worsening humanitarian conditions and undermining efforts to support millions of people in need.
The IOM called on all parties to respect international humanitarian law, protect civilians, and facilitate the safe delivery of humanitarian assistance.
The organization also appealed for increased international support to address the urgent needs of displaced populations and help prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
Humanitarian officials have stressed that without sustained funding and improved access to affected communities, relief efforts will face significant challenges in responding to the growing displacement crisis across Yemen.
