Insider Spotlight
The agreement, announced October 20, involves Hotel101 Global and WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of Egypt's IGI Holding, marking another milestone in the Filipino hotel operator's international expansion.
Why it matters
The partnership brings Hotel101's standardized condotel business model to Africa, opening another international market as the company pursues its ambition of operating one million rooms across 100 countries.
The initial development, Hotel101-Cairo West, will feature approximately 750 rooms on a 15,984-square-meter property in Hay Al Ashgar along Ahmed Zewail Road in Giza's 6th of October City.
Located approximately 10 minutes from the Giza Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum, the property is expected to rank among Cairo's three largest hotels by room count.
By the numbers
Hotel101-Cairo West carries an estimated project value of 5.465 billion Egyptian pounds, equivalent to approximately $102.09 million or P6.44 billion.
Scheduled for completion by 2029, the property will offer four-star amenities, including conference facilities, meeting spaces, swimming pools, dining outlets and a gym.
Egypt reportedly welcomed more than 19 million tourists in 2025, highlighting the country's potential as a hospitality market.
The bigger picture
The Egypt venture follows Hotel101's international debut in Madrid, Spain, in March 2026.
The company also plans to open its 482-room Niseko property in Japan in December, strengthening its presence across Europe and Asia.
Hotel101 Global, listed on Nasdaq under ticker HBNB, aims to expand internationally primarily through licensing its standardized hospitality model.
What's next
The Cairo development remains subject to customary government, regulatory and corporate approvals.
Successful execution would establish Hotel101's first African foothold while extending DoubleDragon's strategy of building recurring hospitality revenues across international markets.
