Polish authorities have appointed contractors to build a package of roads intended to link the planned new £27bn Port Polska airport with the A2 motorway and other national routes.
The works are designed to improve passenger and freight access to the terminal from Warsaw and beyond and create bypasses to separate through traffic from local journeys.
Three contractor teams were named for the road projects:
The total value of the three road contracts exceeds £250M (PLN1.3bn) and will cover around 90km of new and upgraded roads.
A total of 30 bids were submitted across the three lots, with 11 different companies taking part.
Spanish engineering firm Ayesa Polska will act as contract engineer, charged with overseeing design and construction and supporting contract management. This contract is valued at approximately £16.2M (PLN84.4M).
The road scheme is part of a wider plan to open Port Polska in 2032, coordinated with the first section of a high‑speed rail line connecting Warsaw and Łódź via the airport site.
Port Polska is the umbrella project, also known as Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), to build the new transport hub combining a newly constructed £27bn airport with high-speed rail links and road connections.
The airport is intended to open in stages, with initial capacity targets of 34M to 44M passengers a year and provision for later expansion.
Developers, Port Polska, said combining road and rail links will make the new airport more accessible nationwide and help establish it as a major transport hub.
