Both the PA House of Representatives and Senate were in session this week — the House passed 22 bills and the Senate passed 23.
The U.S. House and Senate were also in session — the House passed 24 bills and the Senate passed 12.
Let’s take a look at how Schuylkill County’s legislators voted on notable pieces of legislation this past week.
HB 2446, Modernizing Fire Companies through a Transformational $30 Million Grant Program: Proposes devoting $30 million annually to help “strengthen the long-term capacity of fire companies.” Funding would go towards supporting equipment, facilities and personnel. This bill passed 105-96 in the House on Monday and now heads to the Senate.

HB 2469, Allowing Local Governments to use Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) for Transportation Projects: Focuses on improving municipalities’ infrastructure by allowing local governments to coordinate directly with private companies to provide engineering, construction, financial or maintenance services for an infrastructure improvement project. Supporters of the legislation say these public-private partnerships will expedite project timelines and save municipalities money. This bill passed unanimously in the House on Monday and now heads to the Senate.

HB 836, the PARENT Act: Preserves families’ access to fertility centers, and treatments such as IVF, in Pennsylvania. This bill passed 147-55 in the House on Tuesday and now heads to the Senate.

HB 2336, Educating Our New Drivers on Safe Driving Habits in Work Zones: Requires the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to begin informing new drivers about how to drive safely in ongoing work zones and include a question regarding such habits on the Pennsylvania driver’s license exam. This bill passed unanimously in the House on Tuesday and now heads to the Senate.

SB 806, Disclosure of Artificially Intelligent Generated Content: When a consumer good is generated using artificial intelligence, whether it be an image, video, audio or text, this bill requires that a disclosure accompany the product noting its AI production. This bill passed 48-2 in the Senate on Wednesday and now heads to the House.

S.2, Secure America Act: Ends the partial shutdown of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and secures funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) until 2029. The appropriations total $70 billion. This bill previously passed in the Senate on June 5 and passed in the House on Tuesday. It was signed into law on Wednesday.
