GLOBE TELECOM, INC. has consolidated its artificial intelligence (AI), data, cybersecurity, and digital policy functions under a newly created Intelligence and Trust Office (ITO) as the company expands the use of AI across its operations and enterprise services.
In a regulatory filing on Monday, the listed telecommunications company said the new office will bring together several units responsible for AI, data governance, cybersecurity, privacy, and digital trust initiatives.
“The ITO is borne out of Globe’s accelerated efforts into ensuring that the organization is secure, AI-enabled and data-driven, given its initiatives across AI, Data, Cybersecurity, and Digital Policy,” Globe said.
The office will house the Artificial Intelligence Group, Data Group, Information Security and Data Privacy unit, and Digital Policy Office.
Globe also appointed its current Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer and Chief Information Security Officer Anton Reynaldo M. Bonifacio to lead the new unit.
Effective June 15, Mr. Bonifacio’s designation has been changed to chief intelligence and trust officer.
The company said the ITO will help strengthen Globe’s enterprise-wide capabilities in AI, data management, cybersecurity, and digital trust as it pursues its broader digital transformation strategy.
The move comes as Globe ramps up investments in technology infrastructure and AI-driven initiatives.
Earlier, the company said it had earmarked P56 billion in capital expenditures this year for network upgrades, infrastructure expansion, and data center investments, while expanding the use of AI across its operations and enterprise services.
Globe is maintaining its low- to mid-single-digit revenue growth target for 2026 after posting higher core earnings in the first quarter.
For the January-to-March period, Globe’s attributable net income declined 20.5% to P5.55 billion from P6.98 billion a year earlier as higher expenses offset revenue growth.
Core net income, however, rose 9% to P4.93 billion, while consolidated gross service revenues increased 5% to P41.97 billion.
Shares in Globe rose P30, or 1.76%, to close at P1,730 apiece on Monday. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
