A boy has died after being struck by a car in County Mayo in the Republic of Ireland.
Gardai (Irish police) said they were were alerted to the incident on the N59 at Eskeragh, Crossmolina, near Ballina, at about 11:20 local time on Sunday.
They said the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital and a coroner has been notified.
Gardaí have appealed for information and asked for witnesses of the incident to come forward.
