An adaptation of the hit British comedy is coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC Three
The BBC has acquired Ghosts Australia, adapted from the critically acclaimed British comedy series, from BBC Studios.
Young couple Kate and Sean inherit Ramshead Manor after the timely death of Kate’s great-uncle. Heading out to the country to inspect the dilapidated property, they debate whether to uproot their city lives and turn Ramshead into a boutique hotel. Unbeknownst to them, the manor is also home to an eclectic group of Ghosts…
The eight-part series – which will be available soon on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three – stars the Logie nominated actors Tamala (Cleverman, Nowhere Boys) as Kate and Rowan Witt (Totally Completely Fine, Book Of Mormon) as Sean. The ghostly ensemble are played by Mandy McElhinney (Love Child, House of Hancock), Brent Hill (Hamilton, School of Rock), Ines English (Last Days of the Space Age, The Last Anniversary), and also two Best Comedy Logie nominated actors Michelle Brasier (Thank God You’re Here, Aunty Donna), and George Zhao (The Family Law, Gold Diggers) and Jackson Tozer (Ricky Stanicky, Deadloch).
Directed by Christiaan Van Vuuren (Top End Bub, A Sunburnt Christmas) and Madeleine Dyer (Colin from Accounts, Austin), Ghosts Australia was written by Josh Mapleston (Surviving Summer), with script editor and writer Libby Butler (Surviving Summer, Neighbours) alongside writers Shontell Ketchell (Gold Diggers), Philip Tarl Denson (Zero-Point) and Steph Tisdell (Fisk, Rosehaven).

The series was produced by Bree-Anne Sykes (Critical Incident, Wellmania) and executive produced by Sophia Zachariou (Ladies in Black, The Office Australia), Kylie Washington, EVP and Creative Director BBC Studios ANZ plus Paramount ANZ Head of Scripted and Comedy, Sophia Mogford.
Ghosts Australia is produced by BBC Studios Australia Productions with investment from Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive. It is based on the original series Ghosts, produced by Monumental Television (an ITV Studios company) in association with Them There for BBC iPlayer and BBC One. Ghosts Australia premiered on Paramount+ in Australia. BBC Studios is handling global sales.
