Kyiv Post Senior Defense Correspondent Stefan Korshak joins TVP World to discuss recent Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and how accelerating deployments of jet-powered strike drones are straining air defenses and electricity transmission capacity ahead of winter as bilateral talks with Washington proceed under low expectations for peace negotiations.
Recent Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have triggered emergency power outages in Kyiv and several other regions of the country.
At the same time, Ukrainian negotiators are heading to talks with U.S. officials, even as Washington openly warns that it currently sees little prospect for successful peace negotiations with Russia.

“The situation is serious. Where I am, we had only three hours of electricity in an entire day,” Stefan Korshak, Senior Defense Correspondent at the Kyiv Post, tells World Talks.
Ahead of another difficult winter, Ukraine needs not only stronger air defense capabilities but also greater power generation and transmission capacity.
According to Korshak, one of the newest challenges comes from the increasing use of Russian jet-powered drones, which are placing additional pressure on Ukraine’s air defense network and energy infrastructure.
Join Sascha Fahrbach and his guest as they discuss Russia’s campaign against Ukraine’s power grid, the growing challenge posed by jet-powered drones, the prospects for U.S.–Ukraine talks, and whether Kyiv can avoid a major energy crisis this winter.
