Holidaymakers have been warned to expect travel disruption across France, Italy and the UK as protests and severe weather threaten journeys.
Travellers have been urged to check for delays as protests and storms threaten journeys across Europe
The Foreign Office has issued updated advice for British tourists visiting France amid concerns over further demonstrations following widespread unrest.
Protests over the cost of living and school conditions have sparked disorder in several French cities, with authorities introducing additional safety measures.
A partial curfew in parts of Paris has been extended until Monday, while Marseille and Lyon have announced restrictions aimed at preventing further trouble.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said: “There is an increased likelihood of demonstrations, political gatherings and marches taking place across France, sometimes at short notice.”
It urged travellers to avoid large crowds and areas with a significant police presence.
The department added: “Demonstrations may disrupt local transport services and authorities may impose public safety measures, including partial and localised curfews in some areas. Monitor local media for the latest information about measures in your area.”
Meanwhile, Jet2 has warned passengers travelling to Italy that planned protests could lead to fuel shortages and additional stops during flights.
The airline said some aircraft may need to refuel in Turin before continuing to their destinations.
Jet2 said: “We’re operating all our flights as planned so please arrive on time – check-in will close 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time.”
Passengers flying through southern England have also been warned of possible delays as Storm Austen brings strong winds.
Ryanair said some services could be affected and urged customers to check its app for updates.
The airline said: “Affected passengers will be contacted directly through the app. Passengers travelling through southern UK should monitor the Ryanair app for the latest flight information.”
Loganair has cancelled 18 flights involving airports including Newquay, Exeter, Bristol, Jersey and Southampton.
The airline has also warned that Storm Boelo could disrupt services in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man over the weekend.
Cruise and ferry passengers could face disruption, with some ships returning to Southampton earlier than planned.
The Met Office warned that strong winds could affect road, rail, air and ferry services, causing longer journey times and cancellations.
Brittany Ferries said it was monitoring conditions and would contact affected passengers directly.
Travellers have been advised to check with their airline or ferry operator before setting off and allow extra time for their journeys.
