WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The White House drug czar visited Northwest High School Wednesday.
Sara Carter, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, along with Sen. Roger Marshall, announced a partnership with the school for the Drug-Free Communities Support Program.
Northwest students will develop the first youth-led primary drug prevention toolkit. The toolkit will guide drug prevention efforts throughout the nation.
“The most important part of this toolkit for me is that we’re working directly with the youth, we’re working directly with children, and we want to do that across the nation,” Carter said. “They’re some of our best advocates. They know what’s happening, they know what’s going on, so we want to learn from them, we want to hear from them.”
The toolkit is expected to be released around the start of the 2027 school year.
