Details: The Telegraph recalls that Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian leader, previously said that Europe should be involved in negotiations between Russian, Ukrainian and American officials.
Meanwhile, sources in diplomatic circles assert that Russia’s motive for involving European countries is the desire to use the next round of talks to obtain concessions regarding NATO expansion.
It is noted that Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin will likely demand that NATO’s presence in Europe be reduced to 1997 levels.
The Telegraph writes, this could potentially mean the withdrawal of NATO troops from Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland.
