BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Tuscaloosa church is helping voters get to the polls. They’ll use the church’s van to drive voters to the polls and back home.
Bailey Tabernacle C.M.E Church offers this free shuttle service to people in the Tuscaloosa area.
They will start shuttling people back and forth starting at 6:30 the morning of election Tuesday and will continue until just after polls close.
The church’s pastor said voting is important. He called this their way to help people in their community exercise their right to vote.
“You meet a lot of interesting people. You get to have some people ride with you that wouldn’t normally ride with you. But it’s also just rewarding. You’d be surprised how many people there are who don’t vote just because they can’t get there,” Pastor Anderson Graves explained.
Bailey Tabernacle C.M.E Church is accepting calls for rides to the polls through Tuesday.
